We are a Certified Invisalign Platinum Elite Provider and offer INVISALIGN® Full and Teen treatments.
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign doesn’t rely on metal wires and metal brackets. Treatment consists of a series of clear, customised plastic aligners. Each one is designed to represent a slightly different stage of your smile as teeth are moved. By switching aligners every 1-2 weeks, smiles reach their ideal position at a gentle and gradual pace.
Invisalign isn't just for adults! Slipshoe Street Orthodontics offers Invisalign Teen, the perfect orthodontic option for the young adult in your life who needs to maintain their self-confidence. This treatment has all the features of the traditional Invisalign system while adding some helpful features. These include a Blue Dot Indicator that shows your teen when it's time to switch aligners and Eruption Tabs capable of accommodating growing second molars. Your orthodontist will determine suitability to this teen product as not all children are suitable.
Fixed metal train-track type braces have always been a popular option for straightening teeth, due to their effective and predictable results.
How do metal braces work?
Brackets are bonded onto the teeth, with a wire that runs across them. This wire creates the force to gradually align the teeth. Traditional braces are a trusted and reliable method of achieving precise straightening results, and are still, widely used for patients for all ages. Modern metal braces are much smaller and more comfortable than ever before; and they offer a lower cost option.
What are the advantages of metal braces?
Metal braces are the most cost-effective treatment option. They can also treat even the most complex orthodontic issues. Metal braces are extremely accurate, and a great treatment choice for all ages.
Children can customise their braces with bright colours for a fun, personal look!
This orthodontic option consists of ceramic brackets and clear wires adhered to your teeth like their traditional alternatives. Over time, they gradually realign teeth into a more ideal position, and Dr Dinwoodie enhances the process with brief adjustment appointments about every 8 weeks. Patients may experience some tenderness after their new braces are fitted, but this usually ends after a week has passed. In the meantime, it's recommended that you eat soft foods and take pain relievers as prescribed to improve comfort.
Advantages of Clear Ceramic Braces
Clear ceramic braces blend in with your tooth enamel and allow patients to retain a more natural look in photos. A frequent concern of patients interested in clear ceramic braces is that they will stain easily. While the ceramic brackets are resistant to this, the coated wires used to align the teeth and elastic chain may discolour/wear slightly, however, they are frequently changed which eliminates this concern and helps patients maintain a pleasing appearance.
We use 3M Clarity Advanced brackets because they are the best ceramic brackets we can source for you.

Before your treatment begins, we need to fully understand every detail of your smile to ensure optimal results every step of the way. In the past, the only method for capturing these measurements was to take a physical impression that involved the placement of a putty-like material into the patients mouth. Understandably, many people find this technique incredibly unpleasant. Thankfully, we've said goodbye to this method and provide state-of-the-art digital impression technology that's much more precise and more comfortable.
The iTero Imaging Process
iTero is ideal in many ways when compared to the traditional impression process eliminating messy materials and creating a more relaxing and pleasant environment for patients. This is especially true for children and patients with sensitive gag reflexes who can't handle the gloopy materials long enough to capture accurate measurements. With iTero, we use a wand that easily fits into the mouth and rests over each tooth at a time, capturing photographs of its structure and submitting them into the computer system. Within minutes Dr Dinwoodie can form a comprehensive picture of your smile which is easily viewed with the chairside monitor.
